Sunsets, Flowers, Country Music and More, Photos of the Week, Dec. 12th to 18th

December 24, 2015 — 2 Comments

It’s been less than two years since I saw Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan performing This Is How We Roll at the 2014 Academy of Country Music Awards. It was an amazing performance and since then, I have rediscovered country music. This time it’s “new” Country with a mix of rock, pop, soul, and even rap. I had never heard of many of the artists before. Listening to new music that I enjoy really has inspired me. In fact, I will include a “What am I listening to” post here once a week from now on. I hope you’ll enjoy it and feel free to pass along any new music to me. A Youtube video with you singing in the shower doesn’t count though.

Last year, I went to the Basics for Babies fundraiser at the Langley Events Center hosted by Vancouver, Canada’s Country radio station 93.7 JRfm. While last years’s lineup of performers was very good, I was amazed who would be there in 2015. While I took the odd phone photo and some video, I decided to include Youtube videos to hear the songs more clearly. But wait, this is also my “photos of the week” posted to social media feature, so let’s start with…

Double tulip and more…
One of my favourite gardens from last Spring with these double tulips and baby’s breath, VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, Canada.

After the sunset…
With Mount Baker in the distance, the view from the wharf in Coupeville, Washington, USA. Summertime!

A little brightness from the rose garden of Stanley Park in Vancouver. Late Spring!

After the sunset…
Looking toward Mount Matier from the first Joffre Lake at Joffre Lakes Provincial Park, Canada. Last Summer!

A whole lot of mid Spring brightness…
I forget the name of this flower. Taken outside the RCMP station across from Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, Canada.

Hello Canada Goose!
I think she wanted some seed. Summertime at Burnaby Lake!

Now let’s take a moment to check out the performers from this year’s Basics for Babies. For more information and to contribute, please visit the page 93.7 JRfm Basics for Babies. Feel free to listen to these songs while checking out my website (you can always open a new window).

Again, I selected these videos from YouTube. If you like any of them, please support the artists by purchasing the songs.

I didn’t see everyone but got there just in time for the very talented Manitoba duo Petric. This is Here Goes Everything.

I enjoyed Jojo Mason’s song It’s All Good the moment I heard it. Here is the audio version from Youtube.

I had never heard of David James and was glad to have seen him. This is truly a beautiful song! What We Weren’t Looking For sounds like a hit!

I had heard Cheap Wine and Cigarettes by Jess Moskaluke many times on the radio. She put on a great performance at Basics for Babies.

Dallas Smith was the special guest and we were lucky to see him perform. This was the third time for me and I really enjoyed the acoustic set. This is his latest single and video, Kids With Cars. I love this song!

Chad Brownlee was the final preformer and he put on a great set. Fallin’ Over You is the first song of his that I heard on the radio. Since then, I have downloaded (legally) many more of Chad’s songs. I really enjoy his pop / country mix!

Okay let’s get back to my photos 🙂

On a dark, wet late Autumn day, another look back to Spring and some brightness courtesy of this yellow poppy and Azalea!

A cruise to the sunset…
certainly not on the stormy evening that I posted this, but taken earlier this year from the esplanade near Ambleside Park, West Vancouver.

I thought these tulips were interesting, especially the one on the left that is standing out with shades of pink. Last Spring in the gardens of Stanley Park.

Watch your step 🙂
Cute ducklings on lily pads. Springtime at Burnaby Lake.

On another stormy morning in Vancouver, a look back to Spring and these pretty tulips. I’m not sure of their name, though. Taken at Queen Elizabeth Park.

About Randall St. Germain

Randall St. Germain, author of Camino de Santiago In 20 Days, is a middle-aged Canadian Boy who is passionate about nature, photography, hiking, music, and self-improvement. After the death of his mother, he chose to walk the famous pilgrimage, the Camino de Santiago, across the north of Spain, despite knowing little about it. He certainly didn’t plan to write a book until the latter days of his Camino. Similar to walking the Camino, writing and publishing a book was a learning experience. It was also very rewarding, and part of his ongoing journey. Please join him as he takes you along on his journey in Camino de Santiago In 20 Days, and on his blog Camino My Way.

🎅 Excellent choice in photos Randall superb captures especially the little baby ducks on the lily pads, but my favorite flower photo would have to be the first one of the double pink tulip and blue babies breath. ♥

🎅 Merry Christmas my friend and a Happy New Year. =0)
