This is the Songwriter Demo Mashup of Randall St Germain. If you are an artist or someone in the music industry, and interested in listening and possibly licensing my songs, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks for listening. All songs are copyrighted.
Songwriting is my first passion. I started writing songs when I was young but didn’t pursue it until later in life. Around 2003, I started making my first serious demos. Not being a performer made the process difficult but I was determined. Going from anolog recording with my little four track tape recorder to the digital world was a tremendous step. I had so much to learn but also made many mistakes.
I went from hiring producers on my first few demos to co-producing, to producing with an engineer, to recording, playing guitars, and producing myself. While these latter demos are much less polished, they were the most satisfying to complete. Further, I really enjoyed working with the singers who are on the final versions. After recording, I tried to get those in the music industry to listen but besides a few small publishers, I found it impossible getting my foot in the door, so to speak. Believe me, when I was in Los Angeles, I really couldn’t get my foot in the door. As I later found with publishing a book, publishing songs is a difficult business in today’s environment.
After years with my songs sitting gathering dust, in 2013, I made another effort to get heard. This time I targeted entertainment lawyers. I had one interested and one wasn’t. One wanted me to go to Nashville to work with people there but I couldn’t go unless something was more certain. The only publisher that agreed to listen to two songs said they weren’t “polished” enough which is understandable considering I spent less than $50 each on many of my demos (not including vast amounts of my time).
So that brings my songs to this point where I decided again that I would attempt to get heard. This time I would take advantage of my platform that I have worked so hard on. Previously, I would only let few people listen. Now, I have decided to open it up a little for others to hear at least some of my songs on these two mashups. For now, the mashups are only available to listen here and on SoundCloud. I also have the complete demos and others available either privately on SoundCloud or Dropbox to those in the music industry interested in listening. Please share if you can and thanks again for your time.
All the best,
Randall St. Germain
