Archives For Music

It’s been less than two years since I saw Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan performing This Is How We Roll at the 2014 Academy of Country Music Awards. It was an amazing performance and since then, I have rediscovered country music. This time it’s “new” Country with a mix of rock, pop, soul, and even rap. I had never heard of many of the artists before. Listening to new music that I enjoy really has inspired me. In fact, I will include a “What am I listening to” post here once a week from now on. I hope you’ll enjoy it and feel free to pass along any new music to me. A Youtube video with you singing in the shower doesn’t count though.

Last year, I went to the Basics for Babies fundraiser at the Langley Events Center hosted by Vancouver, Canada’s Country radio station 93.7 JRfm. While last years’s lineup of performers was very good, I was amazed who would be there in 2015. While I took the odd phone photo and some video, I decided to include Youtube videos to hear the songs more clearly. But wait, this is also my “photos of the week” posted to social media feature, so let’s start with…

This past week was highlighted by a trip to Whistler, Canada as I hoped to catch some beautiful Autumn colours. On Friday, it actually felt like Summer, as I wore shorts in temperatures that reached the low 20s (Celsius). The clouds rolled in for the weekend, but I managed a good morning walk on Saturday until it started to rain. That was okay, because I was hunkered down in my hotel room in time to watch Game 2 of the Toronto Blue Jays / Kansas City Royals American League Championship Series. Exciting, right?  The game didn’t go quite the way I had hoped, as the Bluejays sadly lost. No photos of baseball, but now, please join me on my photos of the week posted to social media!

Like a meteor crashing through the atmosphere. It’s your gravity alone that always brings me here. Though I’m falling even faster than I wanted to. Getting closer…. Closer to you… Lyrics from Closer To You. Written and published by Brett Boyett & Caitlin Alise Parrot ©2012. Vocals by Korie Anne.

I have been out of the music scene for a few years now, after being tossed out — okay, led out — of a record company office in Los Angeles by a security guard secretary, after they denied my begging and pleading to at least listen to my songwriter demo. A lot has taken place since then, but when I decided to include interviews on my blog, I immediately thought of musicians and songwriters. I had met one singer on Twitter after she brought her new song to my attention. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised that not only she was a brilliant singer, the song was catchy and produced very well. I was even more surprised when I found out later that she was only 14 years old. Influenced by Adele and Christina Perri, this singer is determined to make her own way to the top of the music industry. I’m so happy that she along with her manager agreed to join me on my blog. Please welcome manager Dave Seguss and from Sacramento, California, this is…
