A little late but as it does every year, Spring emerged and showed off the colours that makes it my favourite season. Between showers and storms, I was able to get out and enjoy a little sunshine, along with some much-needed exercise. Of course, I also took photos. Just when I thought Spring was here, we had the heaviest snowfall of the season on the West Coast of Canada. With the snow and rain, I didn’t get out much in February. Fraser Valley Ice Storm, A New Year’s Day Bobcat and More

My New Year started off in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada, just after an ice storm. While the area recovered from power outages, fallen branches, and trees, I was able to marvel in the beauty before the thaw. Seeing a Bobcat from a safe distance on New Year’s Day was another thrill. Autumn Splendor, Hiking the Larch Valley, Banff National Park

I had always wanted to see the Larch Valley in Banff National Park in its golden splendor. Although I had been to the Larch Valley previously, it was in August and you don’t realize what you’re missing in the Autumn. I’m glad I went as it would be among my best ever visits to the Canadian Rockies. Amazing and beautiful! And crowded too!

Whenever you visit the Canadian Rockies at the end of September, you could have early Winter conditions or warm, Spring-like days. There was snow and cold the week before our visit but we was lucky to arrive to sunny skies. The Moraine Lake parking lot was full early so we had to take the shuttle from the Lake Louise overflow campground along the Trans Canada Highway. Make sure you give yourself time as there may be a wait for the shuttle both ways.

We’ll start here, on the edge of Moraine Lake facing the Tower of Babel.

I usually don’t get outdoors too much in November and this past one was no exception. Typically, it’s stormy in Vancouver and I’m a fair weather walker and hiker.
